What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine over 200 hundred years old, which uses your body’s natural healing abilities to cure your ailments. The basis of homeopathy is The Law of Similars. It states that if a substance is ingested in undiluted form it will cause a complex of symptoms; but if it is administered in very, very, very, very dilute form, it will cure that same complex of symptoms.
Dr. Feingold, your homeopath, tries to match the totality of your symptoms to the remedy that causes those same symptoms. She gives you that remedy in extremely dilute form. This stimulates your own body to overcome those symptoms and cure your disease, safely, gently and effectively. Homeopathic remedies do not cause side effects.
How does Dr. Feingold arrive at the proper remedy?
Dr. Feingold performs a homeopathic interview lasting approximately 90 minutes, going over every one of your symptoms in great detail. Afterwards, she uses a Repertory that helps her to match your complex of symptoms to the best remedy or remedies. Dr. Feingold then creates a detailed prescription which she emails to you. It includes directions how to take the remedies and where to purchase them. If you live too far away to come to Dr. Feingold’s office, you may arrange a telephone consultation by contacting her through her Contact Page.
Homeopathy takes into account the whole person, fusing together the physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and sexual parts of the self. Dr. Feingold often uses a combination of alternative medicine therapies, including homeopathy, herbal medicine, and nutritional therapies, to treat disease, prevent further episodes, and achieve optimum health.
How should you obtain the remedy?
During the initial interview, Dr. Feingold teaches you how to obtain the prescribed remedies, how to administer them, and when to return for follow-up. Dr. Feingold requires that you purchase the prescribed remedies and administer them yourself at home. Very high potencies of remedies are given once daily. Lesser potencies of remedies may be given one or more times per day. Remedies for acute problems, for example, bee sting, may be prescribed one or more times in an hour.
Homeopathic remedies come in granule form designed to dissolve on or under your tongue and in liquid drops for infants and young children. Dr. Feingold always requires that you take the remedy (or give the remedy to your child) on a ‘clean’ tongue. This means that the tongue should be free from mint, coffee, tea, orange juice, toothpaste, breath freshener, or any other strong tastes for at least 20 minutes before, as well as 20 minutes after, administering the remedy.
What are the side effects of homeopathy?
Homeopathy is safe. There are no unwanted side effects. There are no contraindications to using homeopathy. Pregnant and lactating women, newborns, and infants, as well as debilitated, elderly persons may safely take homeopathic remedies. Sometimes, upon taking a remedy you may experience an aggravation of certain symptoms before they disappear. The aggravation is usually minor, lasting less than a week, and is a step on the way towards a cure. Dr. Feingold tells you when to expect an aggravation. Please report all such symptoms to Dr. Feingold.

What is Dr. Feingold’s office procedure?
When you make an appointment Dr. Feingold will email you the patient information form to fill out. Please fill it out and bring it with you to the initial consultation appointment. Dr. Feingold is a specialist in alternative medicine, and not a primary care physician, so you will need to have a primary care doctor for regular routine care, emergency care, medication refills, x-rays, blood tests, etc. You will continue your usual medications until Dr. Feingold and your prescribing doctor think it is time to taper, stop, or change them. When your homeopathic remedies have taken effect, it is possible to taper most pharmaceutical medications under the supervision of Dr. Feingold.

Dr. Feingold does not accept insurance payments. Full payment in cash or check or credit card is due at the time of the office visit and at every visit thereafter. Our office manager will give you a receipt with diagnosis code that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
In addition, you are responsible for the cost of the prescribed remedies. Homeopathic remedies usually cost $10-15 per remedy. Herbal preparations and nutritional supplements usually cost $20-30 per bottle. Some supplements are more expensive.
