Given that life expectancy during the Neolithic Period was probably about twenty years, Ko-Aish is on the cusp of adulthood. She soon becomes an adult menstruating female, ready to become a Hearth-sharer with a mature male. This story is about her young adult life at Running Waters Cave. Ko-Aish was birthed to Fire Carrier Hearth but she longs to become Healing Woman Hearth.  As Ko-Aish matures, she finds a way to become Healing Woman Hearth, but she must leave Running Waters Cave in order to fulfill her destiny.

She has left the Cave of her birth, Running Waters Cave, to go off with Shakade, Master Tool Maker of Saber-toothed-tiger Cave, to become his Hearth-sharer and to occupy Healing Woman Hearth for his Cave. In so doing, Ko-Aish has succeeded in altering her destiny, something that has no one to her knowledge has done before. 
However, Ko-Aish’s greatest achievement at Saber-toothed-tiger Cave is her work as Healing Woman Hearth. She brings the Healing-plant lessons she learned at the side of Shamana-Yerek, her mentor at Running Waters Cave, to the members of her new Cave, helping them heal from life threatening ailments. Her knowledge of Healing-plants ensures the survival of new birthlings at After-birthling and Bleeding-time Hearth. She and her apprentices at Healing Woman Hearth work tirelessly on behalf of the members of Saber-toothed-tiger Cave. Ko-Aish’s destiny changes yet again as Saber-toothed-tiger Cave is at the epicenter of an earthquake which destroys everything she and the other members built.
